Black Starlets head coach Ben Fokuo was left fuming with referee Vincentia Enyonam Amedome after his side crashed out of the ongoing WAFU U-17 Cup of Nations in Kegue, Togo.
Ghana needed only one point to make it to the next round of the competition but suffered an excruciating 3-1 defeat to Cote D’Ivoire to bow out.
The Togolese official frustrated the Ghanaians especially in the second half of the game with some controversial decisions.
While Fokuo rued his side’s lapses of concentration early in the game, he believes referee Vicentia contributed to his side’s exit.
“If you look at the way the boys were playing, attacking and trying to get our first goal, although we conceded the first goal, we tried to make sure that we equalized.
We were attacking and looking for chances to score. I can say everybody who watched the game yesterday, looking at the attitude of the referee, tells you that the referee didn’t want us to qualify so I can say that the referee contributed a lot to the defeat” He said in an interview with ghanafa.org
