Local football fans have received the news they have waited months for – as stadiums will re-open with immediate effect.
This follows government’s decision to ease an earlier Covid-19 restriction that barred fans from going to the stadium to watch matches.
In a statement from the Sports Ministry and sighted by FMIG, the decision was taken in cognizance of the fact that Ghana has made progress in halting the spike in Covid-19 cases therefore allowing fans to enter stadiums.
However, there is a limit on the number of fans to be admitted to match venues. Stadiums will only admit fans up to 25% of its seating capacity with strict adherence to Government outlined Covid-19 protocols.
WHAT THIS MEANS
The 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season started with matches being played behind closed doors.
However, the latest development means, clubs can now admit fans up to 25% of its seating capacity.
The National Division One League and the Women’s Premier League are also set to start this month. This mean clubs can begin their respective seasons with their fans although not with the full complement of the fanbase
