Communications Director for Ghana Football Association Henry Asante Twum, says there’s no way Ghanaian clubs can perform very well in Africa competitions due to the financial nature of the clubs and the Association.
According to the broadcast journalist, Ghanaian clubs stand no chance to compete with the likes of Al Ahly, Al Hilal due to the financial strength of their competitors.
Throwing more light on the issue, Mr Henry Asante Twum used the transfer market value of Al Ahly SC players which is around $100m and Al Hilal striker Vinny Bongonga Kombe who scored against Kotoko was signed for $200k to make a solid foundation against the financial strength of Ghanaian teams.
“Let’s honestly ask ourselves that how many players among Kotoko current generation worth more than $150k. So football goes beyond playing on the pitch. To attract quality, you have to be quality. So it is not just enough being Hearts of Oak, Medeama or Kotoko.” He told Kessben FM Sports in an interview.
“Ghanaian clubs must position themselves very well to be able to attract quality materials which the relevance of good money is non-negotiable.
“Nevertheless as I speak the industry Ghana football is not in good standing and this is without dissimulation.” He added.
