Management Committee Chairman of the Ghana U20 side, Dr. Randy Abbey has explained the reason for his absence at the 2020 WAFU U20 tournament Benin.
Dr. Abbey, was supposed to have led the team to the tournament but delegated his Vice, Albert Commey to lead the team revealed family issues couple with Election assignment prevented him from traveling with the team.
In an exclusive interview with FootballMadeInGhana.com, the Executive Council member revealed family issues took him outside the country.
“I had a family issues I needed to resolve outside the country, when I returned the elections, my role in the media and all that. So I delegated my Vice Chairman and other members to lead the team in my absence.”
Ghana eventually won the U20 WAFU Championship on Saturday after a sterling performance against Burkina Faso at the Charles de Gualle Stadium in Porto Norvo.
Abbey welcomed the team at the M Plaza Hotel on Monday, he also assured the team of all their entitlements as they prepare to break camp and regroup later in January.
