Ghanaian football prodigy Matthew Anim Cudjoe says he’s delighted to play a role in Ghana’s successful campaign at the WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship in Benin.
The National U-20 side fought a good fight in the final game of the tournament eventually beating Burkina Faso by 2-1 to win the ultimate.
The victory ensured Coach Karim Zito’s side the trophy as well as guaranteed the status of the Satellites as Champions of West Africa Zone B ahead of the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Anim Cudjoe who played his part for the Black Satellites has reveled in what has been a triumphant journey for the team.
“I feel good because we have been able to end a five year jinx at this level to qualify to the African Cup and win the WAFU trophy,” he told FootballMadeinGhana after the team’s win over Burkina Faso.
“I told myself that I need to help win the trophy for country. That mentality helped us,” he added.
The youngster who is currently on the books of Legon Cities is eyeing an improved performance for the Satellites at the 2021 CAF U-20 Championship in Mauiritania.
“When I go home, I will continue to work hard to be fit and well prepared for the AFCON.
“The African Cup is a bigger stage so I need to prepare well for it,” Anim Cudjoe concluded.
