Ghana’s Black Satellites came back from a goal down to beat Burkina Faso 2-1 in the final of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship final.
The two sides clashed in the final eager to prove a point. Burkina Faso had an unbeaten run to protect aside winning the ultimate while Ghana had a greatness to assert.
Coach Karim Zito named captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh in the starting line-up for encounter. Barnieh was rested in the semi final game against Niger.
Barnieh took the place of Issah Huda. Also, in the line-up is Ofori McCarthy who starts ahead of Abdul Mugees Zakaria.
Burkina Faso opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes. Kouame Jean Botue profited from a defensive mistake and put the ball past Ghana Goalie Ibrahim Danlad.
The Black Satellites responded with with sever attacks of their own and found a deserving equalizer.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh connected from a Percious Boah free kick to score in the 40th minute.
The first half ended in a draw, meaning both sides had the remaining 45 minutes to attempt to win the trophy.
Back from the break, the game became an end to end affair.
However, Ghana will prove the more determined side and will be rewarded with a goal inside 7o minutes of play.
Percious Boah who has proven himself as a free kick specialist u leashed one from 35 yards which beat the Burkina wall and goalkeeper.
Boah’s goal gave Ghana a 2-1 lead which they held on to secure victory.
Ghana are thus crowned Champions of WAFU Zone B at the U-20 level.
The team is expected to depart Benin this evening for Ghana.
