Ghana U-20 midfielder Emmanuel Essiam has set his sights of winning the best player of tournament at the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship.
The Berekum Chelsea midfield prodigy has been a key figure for Coach Karim Zito’s Black Satellites as they prepare to face Burkina Faso on Saturday.
The two teams clash in the final with the ultimate trophy at stake having already qualified for the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Essiam has featured in all of Ghana’s games in the competition against Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Niger.
The youngster has revealed to FMIG in an exclusive interview that he set two targets for himself prior to the competition (qualifying to the finals and winning the MVP).
With one already achieved, Essiam has noted that he will now switch focus to playing well to merit the MVP Award at the end of the tournament.
“My target coming into this tournament was to showcase my talent to the world and also to help my team qualify for the African Cup,” Essiam told FMIG.
“You can see its not been easy, but with God all things are possible so, we have been able to achieve that.
“I can say it’s not all that bad, but also not all that good too. I want to be the best player in the tournament so I need to do more. I want to achieve that,” he disclosed.
