The playing body of Asante Kotoko have acted repulsive towards management’s decision to axe head coach Maxwell Konadu, Footballmadeinghana.com can report.
Management of the club communicated their decision to part ways with the experienced gaffer following what they term as an embarrassing defeat to Great Olympics in the league.
The result proved the last straw that broke the camel’s back after a string of unimpressive results so far this season.
Kotoko under Maxwell Konadu this campaign had a record of 1 win, 3 draws and 1 defeat in 5 matches played.
The performances churned out according to management was mostly tepid and uninspiring; a key reason behind the decision to pull the trigger on Konadu who was a fan favorite.
However, the decision to sack him has not sat well with the playing body.
After being informed by the club’s administrative and operations manager Emmanuel Dasoberi of the decision, the players made their feelings known to management.
According to them, they disagree with the decision to dismiss the Coach at this stage and demanded a meeting with the CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah personally.
Aside Konadu’s sacking, most of the players are disgruntled over some unfulfilled promises by management.
They have demanded for answers as to why they are yet to receive their signing on fees through an arrangement of spreading it across their monthly salaries.
Till date the players are befuddled why this hasn’t been done yet despite earlier promises made by management.
The emerging developments are likely to affect the club’s preparations for their Ghana Premier League encounter with Dreams FC on Sunday before their all-important CAF Champions League clash with Al Hilal Omdurman of Sudan.
