Communications Director of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Alexandre Aimé Siewe Leupi on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 organized a familiarization exercise for Communications Directors of the 56 CAF member Associations.
The ace Cameroonian journalist assumed office two months ago, replacing Malagacy Nathalie Rabe. Prior to his new role, Siewe worked with Radio France Internationale, Jeune Afrique and ABK Radio. He is well versed in marketing and communications globally and on the African continent.
The Directors, took the opportunity to familiarise themselves with each other and also importantly, touched on areas to improve Communications and marketing of football in Africa.
Pertinent issues discussed included the formulation of a uniform Communication and marketing operational manual for member Associations and a strategic communication plan which will serve as a blueprint for member Associations.
Other areas were, brand positioning, communicating through new media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube), using the power of football to tell a unique story about Africa and the role of the media in the repositioning agenda.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA), was represented by Director of Communications, Henry Asante Twum. Mr. Asante seized the opportunity to make some cogent contributions during the meeting as CAF resolves to chart this new course to change the face of Communication in African football.
CAF also intends to organize a seminar for Communications Directors in Cairo, Egypt in the first quarter of 2021.
