Former Ghana international Sam Johnson has lauded Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak for appointing Kosta Papic as the club’s new trainer
The 19-times Ghana Premier League champions begun the 2020/21 league campaign with local manager, Edward Nii Odoom who played only two games, losing one and drawing the other.
Odoom’s side drew 2-2 with AshGold in their opening game before losing by a lone goal to Inter Allies.
The board of th club following the results has appointed Kosta Papic to replace Odoom who takes charge of the youth team, Auroras.
The Continental Club Masters on Tuesday, December 01, 2020 officially announced the appointment of the former eSwatini national team manager, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs as new head Coach.
The 60-year old Serbian trainer have been handed a three year contract following a successful negotiations with the club.
Sam Johnson who worked with Papic in his first coming to Hearts as his assistant believes the Phobians have signed a good manager who will be good with time.
Speaking in an interview, former Black-stars defender Sam Johnson popularly known as ‘Sam Foyoo’ in the sports unit believes Hearts of Oak appointing Papic is laudable.
He strongly believe it will bring back the glory days of the Phobia club.
“Papic is not a foreigner, he has been here before but I don’t know if he is the same Papic. I prefer he was here before the start of the season,” Johnson told OTEC FM
“His (Papic) return will raise the team because every player will fight to be in his starting lineup”The way things are going, the management need to act fast” He concluded.
Currently, Accra Hearts of Oak are bottom of the eighteen team league with just a point.
