A freakish goal from Richard Mpong was all Elmina Sharks needed to secure their first win of the season as they beat Aduana Stars at home.
Mpong’s goal came inside 23 minutes and directly from a corner kick. The ball was delivered with much precision but la kadaisical defending allowed the ball manouvre its way into the net.
The fearsome Sharks welcomed the Ogya Lads to the Nduom Sports Complex for the Premier League Match Week 4 fixture.
Both sides had not won a league game this campaign and pressure was already piling on either coach to deliver positive results.
Sharks Coach Yaw Acheampong made two changes to his starting eleven from the previous game. Ishmael Hammond and James Bissue who started the clash with WAFA on match Week 3 made way for Dennis Mensah and Edmond Asiedu respectively.
For Mensah this marked a return to the team from suspension due to red card he suffered during the Match Week 2 clash with Liberty Professionals.
In the case of Aduana Stars, Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin he also shuffled his starting lineup from the one that recorded a goalless stalemate against Bechem United at home.
Prince Acquah and Fataw Abdul Rahman made way for Bright Adjei and Kouassi Jean Flavien as the away side chased their first win of the campaign.
The result is massive for Sharks who remain undefeated after 4 games. They now move top of the league table as they await the results from the other games.
For Aduana Stars this was their first loss in the season after 3 games. The Ogya Lads have 2 points from their encounters so far.
