Asante Kotoko Head Coach Maxwell Konadu has expressed content over his side’s away result against FC Nouadhibou in the CAF Champions League.

The Porcupine Warriors forced a 1-1 draw away in Mauritania in the first leg of their preliminary stage encounter.

Young attacker Ibrahim Osman scored an early first half goal for Kotoko before a 21st minute penalty from Hemeya Tanjy restored parity for the home side.

Subsequently the game ended in a draw with the second leg taking place in Ghana next week.

Speaking in an interview with Silver FM after the game, Maxwell Konadu expressed satisfaction at the match result, insisting that but for bias officiating, his side could have secured victory.

“A draw is not bad, but I think that if the officiating was a bit better today, we should have won the game.

“However, a champions league 1-1 away draw is better than a goalless stalemate. We have taken the 1-1 result in good faith, we will go home and work harder to ensure we beat them by at least 1 or 2 unanswered goal so we can progress to the next stage,” Maxwell Konadu remarked.

With the 1-1 result, Hearts need to avoid defeat and worse case scenario secure a goalless draw to qualify. A win will be the absolute surety that takes them to the next stage.

The winner over two legs qualifies to the first round of the qualification stage of the competition.
