Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Samudeen Ibrahim, is uncertain the club is capable of ending their long-wait for a 20th Premier League trophy in the ongoing season.
The Phobians have been starving for success in recent times having last won the League title in the 2008/09 season.
Coach Edward Nii Odoom’s side kick off their season belatedly with a pulsating 2-2 draw with AshantiGold on Tuesday evening.
Heart will play their GPL encounter away to Inter Allies in a capital derby to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Samudeen who played for Hearts between 2016 to 2018 sat down with FootballMadeInGhana to discuss a wide range issues including his former club’s title credentials.
“I don’t think they are ready to win the league but I think they are ready to compete. Other clubs have equally good players like Hearts of Oak have, you can see from the signings of Dreams FC, Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC and Legon Cities
So I think Hearts can compete but I can’t say they are ready to win because in the end how you compete determines where you place at the end of the season” the Ex King Solomon FC prodigy said.
He however singled out city-rivals Great Olympics for praise following their flying start to the new season.
“Great Olympics have impressed me the most so far, looking at the signings and buzz surrounding Legon Cities and how easily they dismantled them, they seem like a team to watch”
