Head Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak Edward Nii Odoom has expressed disappointment at his side’s inability to win their premier league clash against AshantiGold SC.
The ‘Phobians’ drew 2-2 with the Miners as they played their first game of the 2020-21 season at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.
A brace from Kwame Obeng Junior was not enough to hand Hearts a win as their efforts were thwarted by a Hans Kwoffie brace for the visiting side.
for all their dominant play, Coach Edward Nii Odoom believes wastefulness upfront and lapses in concentration hurt his side and cost them a win.
For this, the former Tema Youth Coach expressed his disappointment.
“I am very disappointed about the result. Because this game is not a game of draw, we should have killed this game in the first half, even in the second half we created all the chances in the game,” Edward Odoom revealed during a post-match interview.
“I think a lack of concentration affected us, so I am very disappointed,” he concluded.
Hearts played their first game of the season after a bout of positive coronavirus cases in their camp forced a postponement of their initial first game against Aduana Stars at Dormaa.
The clash with Ashgold saw the return of Patrick razak to playing for his former side in a competitive for the first time since he departed for a stint in Guinea with Horoya AC.
Razak was in inspired form and he perfectly set up the second goal after a brilliant display of skill and precision from a subsequent cross for Obeng Junior to head in Hearts’ second.
Edward Odoom waxed lyrical about the diminutive attacker who gave observers much ore excitement and plenty to talk about.
According to Odoom, there is more to come from the player.
“Patrick Razak is one player I have used before, and I know him. What he wants from the boys, he had half. he couldn’t get all,” he revealed.
Hearts of Oak will next play INter Allies on match week 3 at the Accra Sports stadium.
