Hearts of Oak attacker Patrick Razak has refused to put his personal ambitions first at the expense of that of the team.
Razak has returned to the Phobians after a stint in Guinea with Horoya AC.
The diminutive wing wizard who has enough pace and energy to burn was a tormentor in chief for the club as they marked their season debut with a draw at home to AshantiGold SC.
The highlight of the game for Razak was when he cleverly lofted a ball past and opponent, outrun him to deliver a precise cross for Kwame Obeng Junior to head in Hearts of Oak’s second goal of the game.
Such telling was Razak’s performance that he was rewarded with the MVP Award in the aftermath of the game.
Speaking during the post match interview, a selfless Razak affirmed that he is keen to see Hearts conquer and achieve their ambitions first even if it means sacrificing his own.
“Its the team first before individual, so with my colleagues, I think we are going to gather ourselves and put up a good performance this season for Accra Hearts of Oak,” Patrick Razak revealed.
Hearts went into the AshGold encounter in search of a winning start to the season. However profligacy upfront and momentary lapses in concentration meant they could only settle for a point.
Patrick Razak certainly was not impressed.
“I will say I’m impressed because our ambition is for the team to win. And I think everybody has given his best, but so far as we did not get a win, we’ll say our performance was not encourageable [sic],” Razak said.
The player has promised an improvement in subsequent games.
“So we will try and work on our performance and our team shaping and I think we will come strongly [sic],” he assured.
Hearts next play Inter Allies on Match Week 3 of the Ghana Premier League.
