Berekum Chelsea FC have distanced themselves from the words of beleaguered club Chief Executive Officer Nana Oduro Sarfo.
Oduro Sarfo has been in hot waters for careless comments during a radio interview on Accra-based Angel FM.
The interview related to the poor nature of the pitch at the Berekum Golden City park (venue for Chelsea’s home matches) during a league clash with Asante Kotoko.
The poor nature of the pitch and the unpleasant viewing it meant for viewers of the game on TV has triggered much condemnation from the footballing public.
In the interview Oduro Sarfo sounded spiteful and put up a posturing smacking of arrogance.
The Ghana FA Executive Council Member has been lambasted for recklessly speaking in a way that ridicules the agenda of the country’s football running body and the club he represents.
The backlash following the interview has been so intense that it has forced the club to respond to the situation at hand.
In their statement, Chelsea said the words of Oduro Sarfo have been ‘erroneously interpreted as the club’s position in the matter’ and refute that.
