Top performing Ghana Premier League attacker, Salifu Ibrahim has named Argentina and PSG winger Angel Di Maria as his favorite footballing icon; referring to him as someone he models his game around.
Salifu has taken the Ghana Premier league by storm this season, contributing rattling displays in the games played so far. His performances has seen him pick two MVP awards as his club, Eleven Wonders has made a wonderful beginning to the campaign.
The Techiman based side remains undefeated so far with 4 points amassed in two games versus Asante Kotoko and Ebusua Dwarfs.
Of all the positives around Wonders this far, Salifu Ibrahim’s name has been a constant feature, and the player nicknamed ‘Di Maria’ has told Kumasi based Silver 98.3 FM, that he plans to sustain his form and end the season on a high.
He has revealed he draws inspiration from talented left footed footballers worldwide.
“Most people call me Di Maria, but I always pay attention to all talented left footed players and how they play irrespective of whether they play for Barcelona, Chelsea or Real Madrid,” he told Silver FM in an interview.
“I just look at the role the player plays and tap something from it to add to mine. So I believe this is what has helped me develop.
Of the many left footed players he has watched, Salifu Ibrahim has named, Angel Di Maria as his personal favorite.
“Every good left footed player is a role model. But of the lot [Angel] Di Maria is my favorite,” he said.
Such is his affinity for the PSG talisman that Salifu has disclosed his unyielding dream to get to meet his role model some day.
“I have a special message for him; I would love to meet him one day. It is my dream to meet him and have a picture with him. I would be extremely glad that I would be able to have a picture with him,” he concluded.
