Ghana striker Caleb Ekuban netted the match winner for Trabzonspor as they beat Büyükşehir Belediye Erzurumspor in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Ekuban; back to the team from national duty was handed his second start of the season by Trabzonspor Coach Abdullah Avci. The 26 year old had missed the season’s start due to injuries and illness.
The left footed attacker poked the ball into the net from inside the opponents box after a one-two play between him and teammate Abdulkadir Omur.
Ekuban worked the ball upfront and released a pass to Omur just on the edge of the box. The nimble footed Turkish midfielder after some leg overs passed back to Ekuban who had darted into the 18 yard box of Erzurumspor.
After controlling with his left foot, Ekuban who was under pressure poke the ball into the net with his right foot to give his side the lead inside 23 minutes.
It was the Ghanaian’s first goal of the season and it was enough to hand over the maximum points to Trabzonspor. The victory gives them 9 points and elevates them from the previous position of the league table.
Trabzonspor now lie 15th on the league log after a very poor start to the season.
