Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed Thomas Partey is set to have a scan on a suspected thigh injury he suffered during his side’s shocking home defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.
Partey was subbed off at half time after showing visible signs of an injury worry with his left thigh.
His absence affected the side dearly as they shiped in two more goals to lose 3-0 in a spiritless display.
Speaking post-game, Arteta revealed that he is yet to get full details of Partey’s injury situation.
Arteta said, “I don’t know. As I said, the doctor will have to have a look at him and probably scan him. Then we will decide what to do with him.”
Arteta did not also confirm whether the injury will lead to Partey withdrawing from Ghana’s squad for the upcoming AFCON 2021 qualifying duel with Sudan.
“We don’t know [whether he will withdraw],” he added. “We have to scan him tomorrow or the day after and see what he felt straight away. Let’s wait and see what the magnitude of the injury is.”
Partey’s injury situation has left Ghana Coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor sweating ahead of the game.
