African football icon Asamoah Gyan has reacted positively on his return to the Ghana Premier League.
Gyan sealed a deadline day move to the Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities FC in a big money move. The transfer has heightened the excitement and following going into the new season.
The former Sunderland and Udinese striker reported for his first training session yesterday and afterwards spoke to the club’s media channel about his move.
In the interview Gyan said, “It feels good, people from Ghana have been watching me outside, for all these years and finally I’m back home…where I started. Sometimes it creates memories, from 2003 till now. So I ask myself, how am I gonna do…Am I gonna still play like 2003 or not.
Gyan believes his move will increase following of Legon Cities as a club and the Ghana League in general.
“I think my name is a household name now and 2003 wasn’t a household name. For now people will be coming to the stadium to purposely see me. So I am so happy to play in the Ghanaian League and to play in front of the Ghanaian fans,” Gyan noted.
Gyan, 34 is hoping to get match-fit in time for his side’s season opener next week.
