The President for the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Dr. Ahmad has tested positive for COVID-19, footballmadeinghana.com can confirm.
The CAF President on Friday announced to the football family that he has tested positive for the virus and will go under self quarantine for 14 days.
According to the CAF boss who recently announced his intentions of seeking for re-election, he’s been experiencing some mild-flu symptoms, hence submitting himself for the test which proved positive.
“I submitted to the protocol put in place by CAF upon my arrival in Cairo on Wednesday evening after experiencing mild-flu symptoms within the past 48 hours,” Dr. Ahmad said in a letter to member associations.
“I immediately placed myself under quarantine for a minimum period of 14 days,” he added.
The news of Dr. Ahmad testing positive for the virus comes three days after the FIFA President Giani Infantino had also tested positive.
Ahmad was recently in Morocco for the CAF Confederation Cup final between RS Berkane and Pyramids FC where he even gave out medals and presented the trophy to the winners.
CAF is set to inform all person who have had physical contacts with Dr. Ahmad in the last few days to also seek medical attention.
