The Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority, Kojo Baah Agyemang has assured that the Baba Yara Sports stadium should be ready for use by the close of the year.
The stadium was closed for renovation works as part of government efforts to refurbish the various national sports stadia.
However, works have progressed at a snail’s pace and with football returning in mid-November, football starved fans in Kumasi have grown increasingly concerned about how unready the facility is for use.
Due to the situation, Asante Kotoko have chosen Accra as the host city for their home games in the Premier League and their African campaign.
Speaking to Silver 98.3 FM, the NSA Board Chairman has assured the renovation works should be completed by close of the year.
“Per the initial arrangement, the stadium was supposed to be ready by October, but as we are all aware, we’re not in normal times. a lot has changed in the world.
“The happenings in this Covid-19 period affected the progress of work at the facility.
“I have engaged the contractor on site and he has assured the stadium should be ready by close of the year”, the NSA Board Chair assured.
