The construction of the fully roofed Tarkwa and Aboso Park; home venue for home matches of Medeama SC is set for a completion in 2022, officials have confirmed.

Goldfields Ghana Limited, who are running the project for the club and the community made this known during a stakeholder engagement initiative on Tuesday October 27.

The initiative offered the opportunity for stakeholders to be kept abreast with progress on works done on the project which started late 2019.

Per what FMiG gathers, the progress of work being has been at a snail’s pace owing to some alterations on the to-do list as well as the Coronavirus pandemic which caused the halting of the process.

FMiG checks reveal work done is around 18%.

During the engagement, the project of Goldfields Ghana, Roger Adamah took stakeholders round the facility to update on the state of the project.

In attendance were the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive, Benjamin Kesse, the club President of Medeama SC, Moses Armah ‘Mospacka’, officials of Goldfields Ghana limited, prominent members of the community, and the media.

THE NEW TNA PARK:

The new TNA Park project was approved by Goldfields Ghana Limited with a sod-cutting ceremony taking place in February 2019.

The project is expected to upgrade the status of the facility into an ultramodern full roofing 10,000 football stadium.

The initial estimate was around $13million but FMiG understands the cost will increase to $16million following what has happened in the past few months.

The project is being financed by Goldfields Ghana Ltd, who upon completion will hand over the facility to the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly to manage.

Due to the weather pattern of the area (where rainfall is a normal occurrence, the stadium will have retractable roofing) which will make it the first of a kind in Ghana.

The new TNA Park will basically have all that’s required of a modern football facility and will well serve the people of Tarkwa who are avid football followers.
