Ghana striker John Antwi missed out on his first CAF inter-club winners medal as his side Pyramids FC were undone by RS Berkane in the Confederation Cup final.
The Moroccans were runners-up in the last edition as they were beaten by Zamalek and certainly the favorites for the game as Pyramids were making their maiden final appearance.
Antwi, started from the bench with his side conceding inside 15 minutes in the first half goal courtesy Burkinabe defender Issoufou Dayo.
Pyramids pushed for an equaliser but tried unsuccessfully with the first installment of the game ending advantage their Moroccan opponents.
Back from recess, Antwi made an entry from the bench in the 65th minute as he came on for Tawfik Ahmed. However he did little to impact the game in his side’s favor as they were frustrated by a resilient Berkane side.
This comes as a big blow to the Ghanaian who is currently the all-time top scoring foreigner in the history of the Egyptian league. He was gunning for an opportunity to make history with the mega rich Egyptian club who have become a third force in the footy-mad country behind Al Ahly and Zamalek.
