Legon Cities flattered to deceive in their maiden season in the top flight following middling performances and disappointing results.
The club was relegation strugglers until their topsy-turvy campaign was helped permanently following the cancellation of the season due to Coronavirus.
The Royals as they are called have promised a lot going on into their second year since taking over the club.
Legon Cities will need the experience of Fatau Dauda if they want to avoid what happened last season.
Dauda’s experience in Ghana and across Africa is what the Madina based club need in order to succeed in the league.
The former Ashantigold goalkeeper inked a one-year deal with the club after partying ways with Enyimba FC last year.
Injuries and other technical decision forced him to missed some games before the league was truncated.
However, Fatau is fullly fit and raring to go.
Early Life Beginning
Fatau Dauda began his football career in 2004 with Ghana Division 1 League club Okwawu United, and in 2006 Dauda signed for Ghana Premier League club Ashanti Gold S.C. in his hometown Obuasi.
Dauda was a member of the Ghana Premier League All Star Team 2007.
On 5 July 2008, Dauda was nominated as Goalkeeper of the Year 2008 in Ghana.
Dauda moved to South Africa to play for Orlando Pirates in 2013. A backup for Senzo Meyiwa, he played only three matches at the Premier Soccer League and left the club for Chippa United the following season.
After only two matches, Dauda left the club after not being paid.
On 1st October 2014, Dauda returned to Ashanti Gold.
In December 2016, Dauda joined two-time African Champions Enyimba International F.C.
Dauda was in the Ghana national team squad for the African Cup of Nations, and was the first choice keeper for the 2013 edition of the tournament.
He also represented Ghana at the 2014 World Cup.
What to Expect
In an exclusive interview with FMIG, Dauda unwaveringly declared his side’s preparedness for the upcoming season and his expectations of the team.
‘Every team wants to win the trophy, that’s the aim of every team,’ Dauda told FMIG.
“Some teams have done it before, it was always Hearts and Kotoko who were winning the league until Aduana came to win the league and then Berekum Chelsea also came to win it. And the AshGold, Wa All Stars, so it is possible every team in the league can win it.”
Dauda will have to inspire his teammates and lead by example before they stand a chance of winning the Ghana Premeir League title.
With the likes of Jeffery Degorl, Baba Mahama, Jonah Attuquaye, Braimah Foster and Wahab Hanan Legon Cites have the quality to take the Ghana Premeir League by storm.
