The Ghana football fraternity has been hit with another heartbreaking news of the passing on of founder, owner and bankroller of Berekum Arsenal, Alhaji Yakubu Moro.

Alhaji Yakubu Moro who is in his late 60s is one of Ghana’s longest serving football administrators.

His death was reported on Thursday after he was admitted at the Ridge Hospital in Accra following a short sickness.

FootballMadeInGhana.com understands that the passionate football enthusiast battled sickness for a short while and was moved to Accra, the nation’s capital, for treatment where he passed on on Thursday.

Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced but following Islamic convention, a family member has hinted that he will be moved from Accra to Berekum on Friday morning and be buried moments after the arrival of the body.

Yakubu Moro was one of the vociferous football voices in the Ghanaian football circles and his views were seriously respected.

His club produced several top players including former Ghana defender John Paintsil who also played for West Ham United, Leicester City and Fulham.

Under Alhaji Moro, Berekum Arsenal earned promotion to the Ghana Premier League in 2000 and stayed on until 2013 where they got relegated.

In 2006, the Berekum club qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup but were eliminated in the second round by Angolan giants Petro Atletico.
