Asante Kotoko are not slowing down in their bid to strengthen the playing body ahead of the new campaign with news emerging the club is close to agreeing a deal with former Aduana Stars winger Zakaria Mumuni.
The former WAFA prodigy is now a free agent after he tore up his deal with Congolese giants AS Vita.
Zakaria Mumuni, a nimble footed right winger is expected to agree a deal with the Porcupine Warriors and pen a contract before the season commences with reports already suggesting the player is in Kumasi to wrap up talks.
Mumuni’s experience especially on the African terrain is considered key as Kotoko prepare for their CAF Champions League campaign next season while also competing for domestic honors.
Already, Asante Kotoko have snapped up the likes of Emmanuel Keyekeh (from Karela United), Mubarik Alhassan (ex-AshantiGold, free ), Patrick Asmah (free), Razak Abalora (ex-Azam, free) and have been linked with moves for top Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala.
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is also reported to be close to announcing a return to the game (following his retirement last year) with Kotoko keen.
Coach Maxwell Konadu’s side are currently based at Koforidua where they are preparing for the upcoming season.
