The Ghana Football Association, the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana and the Ghana Tourism Authority have unveiled a partnership that will see a boost in tourism and football development.
The initiative is a multilateral partnership between the Ghana FA: and the Ghana Tourism Authority and Professional Footballers Association of Ghana that seeks to reposition the FA in the minds of fans.
The initiative will see the birth of the ‘Battle of the Stars’ which will involve a series of matches geared towards the promotion of tourism and football.
Speaking on behalf of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Deputy Executive Director – Ekow Sampson – who spoke on behalf of the CEO Akwasi Agyeman noted that they are excited to be partnering the GFA for such a laudable initiative.
“Football is pursued by an increasing number of people in the world and in Ghana, it’s a big industry beside being an important mass sport,” he said.
“Football vitalizes the tourism sector and increase patronage of hotels, restaurants, transportation, night clubs, visit to tourist attraction sites and all the tourism value chain which invariably generates employment, increase government revenue and distribute income,” he added.
On their part, Solomon Torson, Deputy General Secretary of the PFAG was excited the three bodies are getting together to team up to bring back the love which fits into the #BeyondTheReturn agenda of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
He assured that the PFAG will make their members available for any event that will promote tourism and bring back the excitement that comes with football.
“We at the PFAG are happy that this partnership is officially being unveiled. We are committed to the #BringBackTheLove agenda of the GFA and want to help in bringing the love of football following the return of football,” he said.
“We’re ready to make our members available for the promotion of tourism and the development of football.
“I, however, want to end by saying we must not forget our past heroes who did a lot to make this great nation proud,” he added.
The President of the Ghana FA who couldn’t hide his excitement acknowledged the role two organizations -GTA and PFAG – and noted the importance of the partnership.
To him, football and tourism are bedfellows and a proper symbiotic relationship between the two will project the country better and create more employment for the youth.
