Government is set to build an ultra-modern sports stadium to honor the seven juvenile footballers who lost their lives in the Offinso Accident which has thrown the nation and the footballing world in a state of shock.
The stadium, according to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah will be situated in Offinso.
“The president of Ghana has sent me to tell you that, we will build an ultra-modern sports stadium in Offinso to honor the boys and we will dedicate one room in the stadium where pictures of the victims will be put there,” the Sports Minister said while speaking at a burial service organized for the departed souls.
“We want to remember them forever. We think this is the right thing to do for them. We think it is the perfect gift to remember them with,” he noted.
The seven boys, namely, Ofori Amanfo Ramsey, Alex Agyemang, Antwi Richmond, Abdulai Jamal, Hubert Anaba, Boakye Samuel and Kwame Opoku were on their way from a juvenile screening exercise at a registration center at Afrancho, near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The Sports Minister who led a government delegation to the event also disclosed that government has set up a GH¢100,000 trust fund for the victims.
The Ghana FA also had a delegation led by its president Kurt E.S. Okraku were present at the event.
