Ghana coach C.K Akonnor has named squad for the upcoming friendly against Mali on Friday, October 9 in Turkey.
There was no room for any local player in the squad which consists of solely foreign based players.
FootballMadeInGhana understands that the absence of domestic football for the past six months due to the Coronavirus pandemic may have informed Akonnor’s decision.
It can be recalled that the former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko trainer named as many as four home based players in his maiden squad for Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games with Sudan which was suspended due to Coronavirus outbreak.
Akonnor has however handed debut call ups to France based Alexander Djiku who plays for Strasbourg, Yakubu Mohammed of Azam FC in Tanzania, Benson Anang of MSK Zilina in Slovakia, Emmanuel Lomotey of Amiens in France and youngster Kamal Deen who plays for Danish side Nordsjaelland.
