Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko have opted for the Accra Sports Stadium for their home games in the CAF Champions League due to the renovations on-going at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the club has confirmed.
The Porcupine Warriors are also considering the Tamale Sports Stadium as their second option should they fail to land the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking to footballmadeinghana.com, the Personal Assistant to Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah, David Obeng Nyarko, disclosed that the Porcupine Warriors are considering the two options but at the moment the Accra Sports Stadium looks the best option.
”Our first option is Accra Sports Stadium because of the renovation works ongoing at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. They are even regrassing the pitch and so it is important we look for another option,” he said.
“The Tamale Sports Stadium is the second option because Kotoko is large and we have huge following in the north too,” he added.
The Kumasi based club confirmed their participation in the CAF Champions League early this month after the FA requested their confirmation.
Kotoko will be representing Ghana in Africa’s elite competition following the cancellation of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.
David Obeng revealed the club is looking forward to signing good players for the competition as they aim to do better in the upcoming season.
“We have decided to participate in CAF Champions League that means we have to bring in new players and make way for those the technical team have advised should leave,” he said.
