Football expert and International Relations Officer of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana Yusif Chibsah has thrown his weight behind the manifesto promises of the NDC on football claiming it’s ‘doable and achievable’.
The former Asante Kotoko skipper believes the attempt by the NDC, if implemented, will go a long way to improve the foreign exchange earnings of the country.
The leading opposition party – NDC – in their manifesto a fortnight ago outlined that their government, if voted into power, will pay players in the Ghana Premier League a monthly salary of ₵1,500.
The claim of the NDC has generated varied views from the public and Chibsah believes it’s a fantastic move by the NDC insisting it will bring great deal of development to the “Ghana football and the economy”
“The NDC’s decision to pay footballers salaries in Ghana is doable, it can be achieved,” the Asante Kotoko legend told Hot FM 93.9 FOCAL sports morning show.
“Though it’s a promise but it will really help the development of Ghana football and our economy.”
The former Black Meteors captain has become one of the technical brains in the country and his assessment and endorsement of the NDC’s idea adds more weight behind the “People’s Manifesto”.
Page 86, paragraph 7.6.1 (f) of the Peoples’ Manifesto indicates the NDC will “use the Sports Development Fund to assist the Sports Associations to provide and improve remuneration and welfare of local sportsmen and women.”
