Asante Kotoko manager Maxwell Konadu is expecting President Akufo-Addo to finally lift the ban on football to enable clubs to prepare for the upcoming season.
Since the outbreak of Coronavirus in Ghana in March this year, the government called off all gatherings and placed a ban on contact sports as part of measures to limit the spread of the virus.
The President has since addressed the country on 14 different occasions without easing the restrictions on contact sports.
The development has not excited the football fraternity with Kotoko and AshGold set to represent the country in next season’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.
The football family had high expectations during the last address of the president but were slapped with disappointment in the face as Nana Addo failed to touch on the ban on contact sports.
With the President expected to address the country tonight, expectations are that the restrictions on contact sports will be eased to, at least, allow clubs to start their pre-season preparations.
Maxwell Konadu who expects the President to lift the ban on contact sports took to his tweeter handle, indirectly calling on the president to give way to football to restart.
“Should we expect some good news this evening fellow GHANAIANS,” the gaffer tweeted.
It, however, looks promising as the President in an interview a fortnight ago hinted the restrictions on football will soon be lifted.
And with the Sports Minister reiterating the position of the President – Nana Akufo-Addo – football is likely to be given the green light in the President’s address tonight.
