Former Black Stars defender Mohammed Gargo has thrown his weight behind Thomas Partey in his quest to join English Premier League side Arsenal.
Partey has been linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid with Arsenal reportedly being his likely destination.
This has been a subject of discussion in the West African country with people with football knowledge sharing their thought.
Speaking in an interview with Citi FM, Gargo backed the former Tema Youth player to succeed at the English club.
“I think he should move,” he told Citi, It’s going to make him a quicker player than he is today.
“Who would want to move from class three to class two instead of going to class four?
“Moving to Arsenal is going to give him another opportunity to take him a step forward, it is going to build him up and make him a better player for the Black Stars.
“So for me, if I were to be him, I would take this offer,” he concluded.
The midfielder has been a long term target for Arsenal, who are willing to bring him to the Emirates this transfer window after failing to sign him last summer. However, Atletico Madrid are determined to keep their key player.
The Spanish club have already rejected two bids – a player plus cash (reportedly 25 million euros) – from Arsenal. Atletico have referred to the player’s 50 million euros buyout clause.
