Former Managing Director of Accra Hearts Of Oak, Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe has outrightly ruled out crossing the carpet to work for Asante Kotoko.
Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are sworn rivals and there is often a posioned atmosphere whenever a player from one side decides to cross over to the other side.
There is the famous case of Charles Taylor who was even cursed by some Hearts of Oak fans when he left the Rainbow club to join Kotoko in a protracted process.
Neil Armstrong as he is affectionately called in the local football circles is undoubtedly one of the finest brains Ghana football has. His competencies as an astute football marketer is never in doubt and this has seen him earn massive respect among football aficionados.
He served as MD for Hearts of Oak in 2013 and left the job barely a year after for unknown reasons.
In an interview with Takoradi based Skyy Power FM on Asante Kotoko’s appointment of new CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah, Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe laughed off the suggestion of whether he will be willing to accept a role at the Kumasi-based club when approached.
As a dye in the wool Hearts of Oak person, Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe insists it will not be prudent for him to accept an appointment from Kotoko.
“I’ve never heard this before (that) for somebody who held one of the highest positions in Accra Hearts of Oak (Managing Director) will go to (Asante) Kotoko for professional reasons to work!,” Neil Armstrong told Skyy Power FM.
“I mean in theory, maybe its possible, but for practice it might not be the most prudent decision to take,” he continued.
“I don’t even know how the Kotoko fans will take if they hear that Neil Armstrong is coming to Kotoko.
“I have to be emphatic, I cannot accept an appointment from Kotoko, its clear,” he concluded.
