Ghanaian football legend Mohammed Ahmed Polo has rated current Minister for Youth and Sports Isaac Asiamah ahead of the erstwhile minister Nii Lante Vanderpuiye.
Nii Lante Vanderpuiye served as sports minister under the Mahama led NDC government from January 2016 to January 2017.
His tenure saw him often clash with the then Kwesi Nyantakyi led Ghana Football Association much to the dismay of those within the football circle.
After the NDC lost the 2016 General elections, the NPP government under current president Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo appointed Isaac Asiamah as Ghana’s new sports minister.
During his tenure, there has been a massive infrastructural development ongoing in the skirts sector.
Multi-Sports Youth Sports Centers are currently being constructed across the 10 regions while rehabilitation works have taken place at the major sports stadia in the country.
In rating how the two have fared, Mohammed Polo has put Isaac Asiamah ahead of his predecessor Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye because of the massive infrastructural development in the sports sector.
Polo, a former Ghanaian footballer who played a key role in the Black Stars conquering the AFCON 1978 tournament said these during an interview with Akoma FM.
“I am struggling to see what Nii Lante did during his tenure as Sports Minister,” he told Akoma FM.
“At least I have seen development and upgrading of sports infrastructure since Asiamah took over.
“If you say Nii Lante brought structural reforms, what was the end product?” Polo quizzed.
“For me because of the infrastructure, I will go for Asiamah,” he concluded.
