Ghana winger Christian Atsu has joined his Newcastle United teammates for pre-season as talks surrounding his future at the club begin to lose steam.
Atsu was rumored to be on his way out of the club after enduring a bench role mostly last season.
The Black Stars attacker started only 6 games for Steve Bruce’s side and played only twice in the last 15 matches in the league.
Overall, he accumulated 732 minutes of top flight football last term, with many indicating he was already on his way out.
However, Atsu has been selected as part of Steve Bruce’s squad for pre-season.
Newcastle United’s players and staff arrived at Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate on Wednesday afternoon for the first day of their week-long training camp in the Yorkshire countryside.
The Magpies will train at purpose-built facilities at the multi-million pound complex for the next few days, before taking on Crewe Alexandra next Tuesday in their first friendly of the summer.
