Ghana and Fortuna Dusseldorf winger Nana Opoku Ampomah has tested positive for COVID-19, footballmadeinghana.com can confirm.
Ampomah is one of two players from Fortuna Düsseldorf who have tested positive for the corona virus.
The local health department ordered the entire team as well as the coaching and functional team to be quarantined at home until further notice.
According to the club announcement, the test was done by Fortuna’s team doctor and hygiene officer Dr. Ulf Blecker and the result was announced late Friday evening.
According to information from the “Rheinische Post”, the professionals Dawid Kownacki is the other player to have also tested positive for the virus.
The tests were carried out on Friday morning.
The relegated Bundesliga side received the result after the test match against TSV Meerbusch (5-0).
Ampomah and Kownacki were immediately isolated from the rest of the team, the message said.
Both had participated in team’s training and the test match in Meerbusch.
Confirming the news to footballmadeinghana.com, Nana Ampomah said it’s true he’s tested positive and is currently under quarantine.
“Yes it’s true I have tested positive and I am currently quarantined,” Nana told footballmadeinghana.com.
