Black Stars Coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor has set up a scouting team to monitor players who ply their trade on the local scene.
Akonnor was named head coach of Ghana’s Senior Men’s National Football team in January, and is yet to take charge of his first game due to the jolt CoronaVirus threw into the football system.
In his first squad announcement, Aduana Stars’ Yahaya Mohammed and Hearts of Oak goalie Richard Attah were extended callups.
The Coach has subsequently not hidden his desire to offer more opportunities to best performing local based players in the Black Stars setup.
Currently, the local leagues are on break with the Ghana FA fixing October as a tentative date for a return to playing.
Should the league begin, C.K. Akonnor has confirmed he has set up a team that will be monitoring players at the various regional levels.
He mentioned this during an interview with Starr FM.
C.K. Akonnor said “What we have done is to set (up) a scouting team that will go round to do all that, including myself.
“For instance if the league is going on, I will probably be in Obuasi, we will do the regions,” he noted.
“So we’ll have…in the Ashanti Region, we’ll have 2 (scouts), Western Region, we’ll have 2, the Western Region will be combined with Greater Accra.
“So that’s how we’re going to do,” he concluded.
