Real Valladolid director Miguel Angel Gomez has revealed his expectation on when exactly Mohammed Salisu will complete his move to Southampton.
The defender has a €12million (£10.8million) release clause in his contract, and personal terms are reported to have been agreed with Saints.
The player has also acquired his working permit with the deal all but done.
Southampton chief Martin Semmens confirmed last week that the club were hoping to complete a move for Salisu this summer, but noted that some big clubs around Europe were keeping track of the Real Valladolid defender.
The La Liga side are looking to let a number of players go this summer, with a current squad size of 37 players. And the club’s director Gomez says that Salisu’s transfer to St Mary’s will be taking place imminently.
“Everything points to the fact that the transfer of Salisu will be announced this week,” he told Marca.
“There are issues that are being [resolved].”
The centre-back has been linked with Southampton for some time, and is set to become the first signing of the summer transfer window as Ralph Hasenhuttl looks to strengthen his side for another assault on the top 10 of the Premier League.
He is expected to fill in the void left by the departing Japanese center back Maya Yoshida.
