Ghana Premier League side Ebusua Dwarfs manager Ernest Thompson Quartey says he will be highly disappointed if the Ghana Football Association appoint a foreign coach as a technical director.

There’s been a report that the GFA might appoint an expatriate to fill the vacant role left by Oti Akenten, despite some of the local coaches showing interest in the position.

According to the  Ebusua Dwarfs coach, he will be disappointed should the GFA overlook the local coaches and go on to appoint a foreign coach.

He also stated the expatriate coaches achieve nothing when they come to Ghana.

“I will be disappointed in the GFA if truly they appoint a foreign coach as a technical director”, Thompson told Otec FM.

“I don’t see those coaches achieving anything when they come. All the titles were won by our local-based coaches”

“We have everything that it takes to hold those positions. I will be very much surprised and angry if the GFA continues to appoint a white man as a technical director” He added.

It has emerged that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to appoint an expatriate as the new technical director of the association.

Indications are that the country’s football governing body prefers a foreigner as the new man to steer the technical direction of the association.

So far, the GFA has shortlisted six candidates ‒ three expatriates and three Ghanaians, including Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah and Bashir Hayford for the vacant position.
