AshantiGold CEO Emmanuel Frimpong has revealed the reason behind the club’s failure to renew the contract of top striker Shafiu Mumuni.

The local Black Stars player’s contract with the Miners expired and there were plans to get him to renew his contract.

However contract renewal talks fell through with the player now a free agent.

Explaining why AshantiGold failed to renew with their former captain, CEO Emmanuel Frimpong has shockingly revealed that they were discouraged from pursuing a renewal after new Coach Roberto Landi notified them that he wasn’t part of his plans.

According to him,  Coach Landi blatantly disclosed to management that Shafiu Mumuni doesn’t suit his system and style of play hence their decision not to renew with him.

Emmanuel Frimpong made the disclosure in an interview with Kumasi-based Foxx FM.
