Black Stars captain André Ayew registered an assist to help Swansea City beat Reading FC 4-1; a result that secured the Swans a 2019/20 Championship playoff spot.
Swansea City in miraculous fashion leapfrogged Nottingham Forest on goal difference to book the Playoff spot.
Steve Cooper’s side looked down and out at the Madejski Stadium with the scores locked at 1-1 going into the second half after George Puscas had cancelled out Rhian Brewster’s stunning opener from the penalty spot.
But the hosts were up against it themselves after being reduced to 10 men following Yakou Melle’s dismissal for violent conduct just before the break.
Knowing a play-off place was up for grabs, the Swans looked to capitalise on their numerical advantage and Wayne Routlege did exactly that by nodding the visitors ahead in the 66th minute.
Routledge added another while Liam Cullen also scored to wrap things up.
Andre Ayew, who provided the assist for Cullen’s goal, played the entire duration of the match.
The 4-1 result earned Swansea a 6th place finish with 70 points from 46 games with a superior goal difference than Nottingham Forest who have same number of points.
