Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) technical director, Francis Oti Akenteng has advised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth And Sports to take a cue from the development of Kudus Mohammed and invest in grassroot football to unearth hidden talents for the country.
Kudus Mohammed last week signed for Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam after flourishing for Danish side Nordsjaelland.
According to Oti Akenten, the high profile nature of the transfer of the player should be a motivation factor for people who want to venture into football business.
Speaking to Bryt FM in Koforidua, the former Ashantigold coach urged the Ghana FA and the Sports Ministry to pay much attention on grassroot football which he believe can help the country to produce good footballers in the future.
“Now everybody knows that it is good to start our development from the grassroot because Kudus Mohammed is a product from the grass. It is will be important for the Ghana FA to take it very serious that we need to develop our young ones from the grassroot”
“When we are able to nature them from the grassroot, the U-17, U-20 and other national teams will not struggle with talents. I feel proud to be a Ghanaian now because of Kudus move to Ajax” he stated.
Kudus Mohammed has featured for the U17, U20 before getting his maiden senior national team call up last year.
