Seasoned football administrator and CEO of Accra Ridge City FC Madam Cleopatra Nsiah Nketiah says Ghanaians don’t pay much attention to the women’s division one League.
Cleopatra, who is also a member of the women’s League board lamented the situation and called for an urgent need to rethink ways of injecting life into that facet of our game.
Speaking in an interview on FootballMadeInGhana’s ghfootyshow, the experienced administrator shed light on some of the challenges facing players in the lower-tier of women’s football in the country.
“In Ghana we have to types of women footballers. We have the professional players and the Amateur players. The professional players are those playing in the in the Women’s Premier League whiles the Amateur players play in the Division one league.
“The professional players who play in the Division one sign contract with their clubs and receive payment at the end of every month. But the amateur players don’t sign any contract with their clubs. They just play it for fun. In Ghana we don’t pay much attention on the women’s division one league. Some people don’t even know we have the division one league”
