Former Ghana international Derek Boateng has advised young footballers against the irresponsible use of social media.
According to Boateng, who played for the Black Stars at two World Cups, the use of social media has had a negative impact on the development of talents today.
He noted that the current crop of players were more vulnerable to mistakes because of their lack of concentration and focus.
“My advice for young players is that they should stay away from social media, concentrate, play well, have a good rest, stay away from trouble and pray so that God will open doors for them,” he said in an interview with on Joy FM.
“The social media is destroying so many young players and they are not concentrating. During my time, right after a game, we go back and think about the game, we play the game inside our head again and make sure that we don’t make mistakes in the next one but right now we see people post things. Their concentration is very little,” he concluded.
