Ligue 1 side Rennes have once again rekindled their interest in signing Mohammed Salisu from Real Valladolid this summer, according to latest reports from France.
Earlie this week, the Ghanaian international was linked with a move to the English Premiership after his initial talks with the Red and Blacks broke down.
However, after receiving a considerable rejection from Belgian side Genk for their central defender Jhon Lucumi, Rennes are returning to Real Valladolid and the Ghanaian defender to try and get a deal over the line.
Southampton have submitted a formal bid to Valladolid for the player, but their proposal is still short of the €12m release clause that exists for Salisu.
Everton, Newcastle and Norwich City are three other English clubs who have also been linked to the highly rated 20 year old, who debuted for Valladolid this season after replacing Fernando Calero, who was sold to Espanyol last summer.
