Former France defender Marcel Desailly has called the 1998 France squad that lifted the FIFA world Cup for the first time as the best ever national football team in history.

France dominated the Mundial and capped of their tournament with a spectacular performance that saw them emphatically beat then defending champions Brazil 3-0 to win the ultimate.

The France team had immense quality with the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Didier Deschamps, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit, Youri Djokaeff, Willy Sagnol, Laurent Blanc, Lilian Thuram among others.
