France Legend Marcel Desailly believes Jordan Ayew has made significant improvements in the last couple of seasons but insists he still needs to work on being more of a “killer” in the final third of the pitch.

The 1998 World Cup winner has been impressed with what he has seen from the Ghanaian international this season.

The 28-year-old currently stands as The Eagles’ top scorer for the campaign, having notched nine goals in 30 appearances so far.

Ayew also became the highest-scoring Ghanaian in the Premier League with 25 goals, breaking Tony Yeboah’s previous record.

But having received plenty of criticism for his perceived lack of effort and disinterested demeanour, Desailly thinks it’s time for him to become a “killer”.

“It’s time for him [to step up],” Desailly, told FootballmadeinGhana.

“He’s 28-years-old now and he has reached a very high level, as well as being quite consistent in his performances.

“We need him to have more hunger. We want him to become a killer. You can see in his face that he is not really a killer, but he is showing great ability”
