Former Ghana FA Presidential Candidate Nana Yaw Amponsah has been refused the Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer job for being a loud mouth, a source from the Manhyia Palace has hinted.
The PHAR Rangers FC owner was heavily tipped to replace George Amoako as the the CEO of the club.
The young and brainy football administrator was interviewed last week by the board in Accra.
The aftermath of his session which was believed to have been very impressive was however marred by leaks of the documents he presented to the club as his vision as CEO.
Reacting to this development, the assistant to the Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace, Kwame Aboagye Mensah has told Opemsuo FM in an exclusive interview why Nana Yaw Amponsah will not be getting the Asante Kotoko top job.
He started by providing clarity on rumors that the board had settled on Nana Yaw.
“We have heard the news circulating in the media that the Board of Directors has settled on him [Nana Yaw Amponsah]. It’s not true and I repeat it’s not true,” Kwame Aboagye Mensah told Opemsuo FM in an exclusive interview.
“Everyone should take note that Asante Kotoko is a big brand and it can’t work with someone who is not secretive,” he remarked.
“Being interviewed by the Board of Directors and the next hour everything said during the meeting is in the media….how can we work with such individual?” he asked.
“If people have forgotten, let me remind that of Osei Kuffour who publicly said he’s the new President of Asante Kotoko. Was Osei Kuffour appointed to lead Asante Kotoko after all the interviews? It’s a big no.
“We have plans for the club and announcements are not to be made by the public but His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II,” he concluded.
With the snub of Nana Yaw Amponsah, it remains to be seen who will be the next serious contender for the Asante Kotoko CEO position.
